Popular musician LP Shady has been remanded to Arua Government Prison following allegations of cyber-harassment, local authorities confirmed. The arrest comes after a controversial video surfaced on social media in which LP Shady allegedly made derogatory remarks about women in Arua, sparking public outrage.

LP Shady appeared before the Arua Magistrate’s Court on December 8, 2025, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was initially arrested alongside Bad Man Carlos, a fellow musician, and Jerry, a presenter at Access FM, but the two co-accused were later released after preliminary investigations.

According to police, the case escalated after LP Shady and his co-accused allegedly made offensive statements against local officials, including remarks targeting the Assistant Deputy Town Clerk. The magistrate has remanded LP Shady in custody until December 15, 2025, pending further court proceedings.

“This is a serious matter of digital harassment and gender-based abuse. We want to make it clear that public figures and social media influencers are not above the law,” a spokesperson for the Arua Police stated.

The incident has sparked nationwide debate about the responsibility of social media personalities and public figures. Observers note that content shared online by popular figures can have a wide-reaching impact, particularly on young people, and can perpetuate harmful social attitudes if unchecked.

LP Shady, who has a strong following both in Arua and across Uganda, now faces a legal process under Uganda’s Computer Misuse Act, with the outcome likely to set a precedent for how digital harassment cases involving influencers are handled in the region.

The case has reignited discussions about the balance between freedom of speech and accountability online, highlighting the growing need for awareness and responsible behavior among artists and content creators.
